Topic : Edit Server Name of Master

Posted By: Tanj on January 22, 2017, 6:33 pm
Hi,

Is there a way to update or change the name of the server where the master is installed, currently this is named "localhost" throughout virtualizor both from the admin and client end.

Already tried to update through "Edit Server" but the "Server Name" input box is disabled. I did find a reference within sql, will this break something if manually updated from the DB?

For naming purposes, we would like to update this as we will be adding more servers to the cluster (ie. server-1 instead of localhost).

Thank you!

I know how to edit it via phpMyadmin but I think it will break the setup.
So is there any safer way to rename ?

Hi,
Renaming the localhost to custom name manually through phpMyAdmin will not cause any problem, however this is the naming convention we follow.

I had the same problem. You cannot change the name (localhost) of the server. But if you add that server as a slave to other master server, then you can name it from the master server.

Example:

Server A is slave & when you login it will show as localhost
Server B is master & when you login it will show as localhost

But if you add Server A as a slave to Server B, then on the Add Server page you can give a name to Server A and then the identification will be simple.
