Topic : Help for a tech idiot - How do I change my domain?

Hey guys!

Basically, I run a website for my band and I previously used a joomla installation (although inside a wordpress installation which is weird), but we were facing all kinds of security issues due to outdated plugins and stuff.

I've made a brand new site using a new wordpress installation, but using a subdomain on my existing domain- which is currently test.example.com

Both installations appear in a list when I click "Wordpress" in softaculous. Basically I want the test.example.com website to be the actual website and come under the main domain instead of the test domain.

What I'm trying to figure out is how I get the new site/installation to transfer over to my main domain of example.com so that I can delete the old installation etc now that the new site is ready to become the actual site and not a test site anymore.

Cheers!

Hi,

You can use the clone feature of Softaculous to make your new site as the actual site. You can refer to our guide here for using clone:
http://softaculous.com/docs/Clone

Before doing the above, I suggest you 1st take a backup of your old site and remove the existing installation on your main domain, then make a clone of your installation of your sub domain.

Please let us know if you need any further information. We will be happy to help you.
