Topic : Dedicated PRIVATE cloud setup

Posted By: prmnt01 on December 3, 2018, 7:03 pm
We are evaluating Virtualizor to provide us the infrastructure for our dedicated cloud. We are moving from AWS to our own servers and hoping to use Virtualizor to replicate some of the functionality. We will use KVM hypervisor.

We have around 15 VMs which we will run in 2 nodes. Most of these VMs run in the private subnets with no inbound requests. We run a VM with a VPN server to acces these servers.

So in AWS we have a subnet with VMs inside it (eg 10.0.1.1/24) and a NAT VM provides access from these servers to the internet (sometimes required for updates only). These servers do not reieve requests from the internet.

We are not running a hosting compnay - we will be the only users of all the servers.

My questions

1) Can we set up 1 master and 1 slave with a shared internal IP pool?
2) Will the serves on the "shared" ip pool be able to communicate across nodes?
3) Do we need 2 NICs per node to be able to have an internal IP pool?

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Virtualizor.

>> 1) Can we set up 1 master and 1 slave with a shared internal IP pool?
Yes you can.
We have HAProxy for this kind of setup. Where you can provide VMs on internal IPs and those IP will have internet as well.
Here is the guide for it :
http://virtualizor.com/wiki/Manage_VPS_Domain_Forwarding

>> 2) Will the serves on the "shared" ip pool be able to communicate across nodes?
If your server setup allows then it should be able to.
We add ebatble rules for IPs so IPstealing will not be possible.

>> 3) Do we need 2 NICs per node to be able to have an internal IP pool?
If you create setup using above guide then IPs will be added as normal IPs and not as internal IPs.
Virtualizor need only one NIC. But for your internal networking to communicate with other server on internal IPs you will need it.
