Softaculous

Topic : Joomla 5 - MySQL 5.7.

In my shared server I have MySQL 5.7.23-23
Trying to install Joomla 5.0.2. directly (created database and file upload), the installation procedure tells me:
You must have MySQL version 8.0.13 or higher to continue the installation. Your version is: 5.7.23-23

The host support contacted told me that with the MySQL version 5.7.23-23 that is on the server it is only possible to install Joomla 4.

But on the same server I installed another copy of Joomla via Softaculous apps installer and I installed myself Joomla version 5.0.2. without giving any error message.

Why did Softaculous bypass the minimum limitation of MySQL?
How is that possible?
Maybe the installed version of Joomla 5.0.2. may have malfunctions?

Hi,

We do have a requirement check if Joomla 5 package for MySQL 8.0.13 and the installation should not go through via Softaculous as well.

However requirement checks can be bypassed by hosting provider via hooks available in Softaculous.

You should not use Joomla 5 with MySQL version lower than 8.0.13 as it can cause unexpected issues.

Do let us know if you have any questions.
