cPanel 76 switched the cPanel and WHM version of PHP from 5.6 to 7.2. Because of this Softaculous no longer works. I think it's because Softaculous needs to be re-encoded with a newer version of IonCube.

When you click on Softaculous, you see the following in cPanel:

Child failed to make LIVEAPI connection to cPanel.

I've ensured that IonCube is enabled for cPanel and WHM.

Hi,

We did fix this issue with Softaculous 5.1.1, are you using the latest version of Softaculous ?

Can you please provide us the output of the following commands on your server ?
/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/php /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/cli.php -v
ls -lha /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/

the command line PHP file outputs nothing, which it naturally wouldn't because it can't work with the version of PHP in use for cPanel.

The softaculous files are exactly where they are supposed to be and the cron job updating Softaculous is active and the cron is getting run.

Since you said the latest version should work, I reinstalled Softaculous using --force-download and that gave me 5.1.1 and that version does seem to work.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi,

We wanted to check if the following folder existed on your server before your re-installed Softaculous hence I asked for the output of "ls" command :
/usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/includes71/

Re-installing should definitely resolve the issue but Softaculous should work without re-installing as well.

In case you face the same issue again please do not re-install Softaculous and provide us access to your server so that we can check this issue for you.
