Topic : How do I activate my own WordPress theme and plugins?

Posted By: heinpr1 on September 3, 2017, 8:45 pm
Hi,
In the Custom Wordpress Package in the Inmotion help section you refer to the following:
"Add your content in SQL file
-  Add your the custom content you need in the mywp.sql file.
-  You might need to make changes in SQL to activate your themes/plugins."

How do I activate my own theme and plugins? I can't seem to find any resources that can tell me how.

I have tried on my own, but every time I do an install the website shows up blank(white).

Please help. Any advice will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response.

By add your content to the SQL file we mean,

If the plugin or theme you want to install makes any changes to the database you will need to update the custom SQL file accordingly. i.e. After activating the plugin/theme, if new tables are created you will need to add CREATE TABLE query, if there are new rows inserted in the database you will need to add INSERT query.

Also you will need to add the plugin or theme files in the custom ZIP package as well.

The above documentation is useful if you want to make a custom package.

However if you want to use the WordPress package in Softaculous and just add theme or plugins you can refer to the below guides :
http://www.softaculous.com/docs/Adding_Plugins
https://www.softaculous.com/docs/Adding_Themes

The above guides are suitable when you just want to add themes/plugins because you are still using the default WordPress package in Softaculous so you do not need to manage the WordPress updates. The package will be updated by Softaculous.

In the custom WordPress package case you will need to update your custom package everytime there is a new version of WordPress released.
