Topic : OpenVZ serial console broken

Posted By: Hidden_Refuge on November 20, 2015, 9:49 pm
Hello,

I'd like to report that the serial console for OpenVZ VPSs in Virtualizor is totally broken because files are missing that are required for it to work.

I enabled serial console for OpenVZ VPSs. When I start a serial console session I see the IP address, SSH port, username and password for the emergency login over SSH for the serial console. When connected to the server the server does not accept the password set for the given user.

I tried to create a new session but it is always the same problem. I noticed that issue since 2.7.7. I am currently using 2.7.9.

I checked some error logs and foound this:
/usr/local/virtualizor/bin/virtconsole: No such file or directory

I suppose that this is the reason for the issue. The files for the serial console are missing. I experienced this on my own node and on a node of a VPS provider with whom I have service.

Hi,

Sir we were able to reproduce the issue on our other test server and this issue is regarding the architecture of OS.

The binary which we have compiled is a 32-bit and your server might not have the supported files for that.

Please execute the following command on your server and your issue should be resolved.

#yum install glib2.*86

If you want please open a ticket at our support and provide the root access of your server. We will do it for you.

If you face any issue please open a ticket on our support system we will definitely help you out and resolve your issue asap.
We will be happy to help you. :)

Let us know if you still face the problem.

Hello chirag,

I've run the command and it installed two packages. The node is running the x86_64 kernel so of course 32 bit compiled executables might not work due to missing dependencies. I think you should include the command into the installer on 64 Bit systems.

I enabled serial console again on the node and tried to login into one of the VPSs. I still get "Permission denied, please try again." when I try to login.

It would be great to see a real HTML5 serial console instead of Java like you did it for KVM.

I now get this error when I try to launch the file via terminal just to see what happens:

Hi,

Sir are you able to access your vps using the credentials which are being generated by serial console in Virtualizor ?

Please try to access it via putty and let us know if you are not able to login to that user.

No, I cannot access the VPS with the provided login details in the Virtualizor serial console window.

It always says "Permission denied, please try again." after I type in the password.

This cannot be right.

passwd entry for the console user:
virtcon-ng4ra9tg:x:507:508:Virtualizor VID 104:/home/virtcon-ng4ra9tg:/sbin/nologin

I tried a different VPS but I still get the Permission denied error. The serial console user for the other VPS has the right passwd entry to /usr/local/virtualizor/bin/virtconsole however when it executes that file there is the error "Segmentation fault".
