When deploying an established staging site via Softaculous, it'd be lovely if the system could begin to make a note of it in the logs directory or somewhere -- otherwise, it could easily blow away data from the production database (posts, comments, orders) and there's no record that it had even happened.

Ideally I'd like to see it make a database dump before overwriting the database, and storing that in case the deployment needs to be undone, so user data is not lost, but at minimum making a note that a deployment happened feels like a very easy win and worthwhile record for an audit trail.

I believe you are referring to pushing a staging site to live. Softaculous does create a full backup of your live site before pushing the staging site to live.


You can find the backup in the Backups page in Softaculous where you can one-click restore the same.

However when you are trying the tool for the 1st time we recommend you take a backup yourself as well. Here is a guide on how to create a backup via Softaculous :
