So we have a website, and a wordpress website in a directory /newsite that we were developing. Now the site is done, how can we transfer the new site to the root domain to replace the old website?

Hi,

To transfer the website to the root domain you will have make the changes manually for the paths and URL in the config file and database. And you will also have to move the files to the root domain.

After this is done you can edit the installation details in the Softaculous panel. But this will not make the changes in the installation itself it will just update the Softaculous records.

Before you go about making any changes to your site/server, ensure that you have a latest backup of all the files secured at a safe location. This usually comes in very handy if things get messed up for any unforeseen reasons.
