Topic : Text formatting for phones help!

Posted By: ThorTTT on November 1, 2020, 5:27 am
I was under the impression that my site would automatically reformat to accommodate mobile viewers... some parts work fine, but text boxes do not- they only show about 2 or three words per line.  I've tried messing with formatting options and nothing seems to change.  My site has a lot of text so this is really important.  Please help me! Advice would be much appreciated!

Without an example, the question is difficult to answer. It depends on a lot of things:
  • The effective length that remains for a text depends on all left and right margin margins on one screen line,
  • The font size,
  • The required width of a character for a font,
  • For long words, whether you have hyphenation turned on,
  • In addition, every telephone has a different resolution and the corresponding number of characters that can be placed on a line.
Perhaps it helps if you design in the smallest screen option window size. How does it looks with the smallest phone screen option?

Thank you for your response.  Here's some more information about what I've tried, and maybe you have some ideas for troubleshooting.

When I put the screen view into the mobile one it reflects what I see on my phone. I've tried setting margins and padding to 0, nothing changes. The font I'm using is Monteserrat, when I make the font smaller it does not change the fact that there are huge margins in the phone view, which is why there are only 2 words that can fit per line.
There are some places it seems obvious that I am having this problem because I have two columns, one with a picture, the other with text (which I might decide to live with because at least here I don't have the same huge margins that are appearing) but I'm having the main problem with pages that are text only.

Thank you for your time.

  • Which theme did you use?
  • You can add a new line and drag the column widget to it. Place the rich text widget in one column and an image in the other. What does that look like?

I have enclosed an example of what that looks like.

I think I used Spatial? But I deleted a lot of the pre-formatting and did my own drag and drop with the widgets.  I attached a photo of what single column text looks like. The double column looks better than this.

that is a danger action  :squi: because things are stacked.
Can I see the page on-line?
