When I click "Start" from the Ampps control center, nothing happens.
There will be something in the terminal when I start Apache, but not MySQL.

If I use the command
Code
sudo /usr/local/ampps/mysql/support-files/mysql.server start
in the terminal, it shows
Code
. * The server quit without updating PID file (/usr/local/ampps/var/mysql.pid).
and the error log shows
Code
140603 16:23:26 mysqld_safe mysqld from pid file /usr/local/ampps/var/mysql.pid ended

If I stop MySQL from the terminal I get
Code
* MySQL server PID file could not be found!

There is no mysql.pid when I look for it.

I'm using the latest version of Ampps with a fresh install. OS is Ubuntu 14.04.

Hi,

Try this
Code
/usr/local/ampps/mysql/bin/mysqld --basedir=/usr/local/ampps/mysql --datadir=/usr/local/ampps/var --user=mysql --innodb --pid-file=/usr/local/ampps/var/mysql.pid &

I decided to re-install Ampps. Which fixed the problem. I found that it stopped working when I changed the owner from ampps to myself in order to be able to edit files in the www folder.

I'm on a Mac (10.6.8) and it worked ok until yesterday. Now I get the following message: "Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress."

I didn't make any changes to the config file (I'm a designer who knows html and css...wouldn't even attempt to get under the hood, so to speak, on this).

Should I simply delete the Ampps application and start all over? I had only installed a WP theme/child theme and started customizing some of the css. Thanks.

Hi,

No. Enable the PHP Extension "mysql", "mysqli" from AMPPS Application -> PHP Tab -> PHP Extension. And restart apache server.
