Topic : Wordpress Email Notification Not Working

Posted By: alidabdul on August 28, 2014, 2:06 am

I've just moved my blog to new vps and I
got problem with Wordpress notification email. Usually I got
notification email if someone post a comment, but after move to new server there
is no email at all.

The weird part is, I try change my email address using my domain and
it works (eg: myname@example.com), usually I use yahoo and gmail and
this not work anymore. Can someone solve this :( I'm so frustrated.

I read this
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/wordpress-email-notifications
but doesn't work cause when I entered this command line
"dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config" appear  "-bash: dpkg-reconfigure:
command not found"

FYI I use CentOS and Webuzo as my panel.

Someone said to install postfix but in Webuzo they provide Exim as mail server, I don't want to install 2 mail server on my vps. How to configure Exim?

Wish someone can solve my problem :(

thank you

What is your CentOS version and architecture ?
Also, your hostname should be a Fully Qualified Domain Name.

Edit the file /etc/sysconfig/network and change the hostname

Reboot the server for once.

Hello

I have the same problem. My wordpress does not send any email. I went to /etc/sysconfig. the network file is empty. nothing in it. So how can I find my hostname? or what is my Fully Qualified Domain Name?

I am using centos 7x. thanks

I just learned that I should use "$ hostname" command. So I get this: vultr.guest. Now please can you tell me what should be the FQDN?

Thanks

Hello again. I will be very glad if I can get an answer to find a solution for this problem. Please let me summarize:

In no way I can get email from webuzo or wordpress. For example when I click on forgot my password for webuzo login and also for wordpress install I get no emails.

webuzo is installed on vultr vps and they opened port 25 for email. So there is no issue on vultr side. I reinstalled the vps and now I see that my hostname is server1. my primary domain is  lets say mydomain.com  which is pointed to vps and working smoothly. So my only problem here is to send email. I am getting this output when I check mail log

[root@serverm ~]# cat /var/log/maillog
Mar  7 23:57:46 guest postfix/postfix-script[1215]: starting the Postfix mail system
Mar  7 23:57:46 guest postfix/master[1216]: daemon started -- version 2.6.6, configuration /etc/postfix
Mar  7 23:58:04 guest postfix/postfix-script[1476]: stopping the Postfix mail system
Mar  7 23:58:04 guest postfix/master[1216]: terminating on signal 15
Apr 20 12:00:10 guest postfix/postfix-script[1108]: starting the Postfix mail system
Apr 20 12:00:10 guest postfix/master[1109]: daemon started -- version 2.6.6, configuration /etc/postfix
Apr 20 12:02:24 guest sendmail[1579]: My unqualified host name (serverm) unknown; sleeping for retry
Apr 20 12:03:24 guest sendmail[1579]: unable to qualify my own domain name (serverm) -- using short name
Apr 20 12:03:24 guest sendmail[1579]: alias database /etc/aliases rebuilt by root
Apr 20 12:03:24 guest sendmail[1579]: /etc/aliases: 76 aliases, longest 10 bytes, 765 bytes total
Apr 20 12:16:03 guest postfix/postfix-script[2941]: stopping the Postfix mail system
Apr 20 12:16:03 guest postfix/master[1109]: terminating on signal 15

Can someone please tell me what to do? I will appreciate that a lot. Thanks

Hi ercios,

It seems that you are using POSTFIX which is not provided by Webuzo.

Please uninstall POSTFIX and install Exim from the Webuzo panel.
