I don't know how this happens but I bought a dedicated server and then I put in the ip for a new license but it says this license has already been activated for this ip.

Whenever you install Softaculous without a Premium License a FREE License is issued.
You can add that license in your Client Area and then change the IP for it.

No two licenses can have a common IP.

But it says it is in use when I try adding the ip to my license.

Yes because a new license must have been created for it.
As I said earlier Whenever you install Softaculous without a Premium License a FREE License is issued AutoMatically.

Hence the free license belongs to you.
Add that license in your Panel or please contact support and they will do it for you.

I understand what you are saying. but I still get this error, I have tried everything.

The following errors occured :
           
  • The IP address(s) - 68.168.222.242 - are already assigned to a Softaculous License.
IP: --

Please contact support and they will do it for you.
Provide the IPs you wist to have.
