Topic : How to Install LetsEncrypt Certificates on Mac OS X

Posted By: ToServeMan on August 6, 2018, 12:01 pm
Hello. I have grown so frustrated with MAMP PRO -- I won't go into the details -- that today I decided to have another go with AMPPS.
Currently, I am trying to enable SSL on my server. I found some online information which pointed me to AMPSS/apache/conf in my "Applications" folder.
So now I know where these folders are located:
ssl_crl
ssl_crt
ssl_csr
ssl_key
My three-part question is the following. I have the following four certificate and key files issued to me by LetsEncrypt, which I renew via the Terminal app every three months:
cert1.crt
chain1.crt
fullchain1.crt
privkey1.key
So my first question is this:
While file goes in which of the above-named four folders?
My second question is this:
Do I need to rename these files so that AMPPS recognizes them as valid certificate and key files?
My third question is this:
I am assuming that I am going to have to edit some conf files somewhere. Can you please tell me which ones, and exactly how to edit them?
It is proving to be a bit challenging to fully set up AMPPS, but I am hoping that once everything is done, it will run smoothly without all of the headaches and frustration that MAMP PRO has been giving me lately.
Thank you so much. I hope to hear from someone here soon.

Oh gosh . . . there is no "edit" button here? :)
Anyway, in my OP, this line: "While file goes in which of the above-named four folders?" was supposed to say "Which file goes in which of the above-named four folders?". Sorry about that.

Wow . . . It has been over two weeks since I first posted this message, and there are still
no reply from anyone here. Am I to believe that out of the thousands of AMPPS users, no one else here has successfully
installed LetsEncrypt certificates in their AMPSS setup?
Even the developers themselves have not replied to my query. :(
Has the AMPPS project been abandoned perhaps?

Hello Mike. Actually, last year I abandoned MAMP PRO and AMPPS as well, and I am now using a different web server software. This software is really cool in that it automtically creates a LetsEncrypt account internally, automatically creates the LetsEncrypt certificates, and automatically renews them as needed, without any manual intervention on my part. I just set it all up once in the web server configuration, and it has been smooth sailing ever since.

So which server are you currently using? I am getting frustrated with AMPPS.
