I wrote yesterday about troubles getting https working with an existing wordpress install.

While I was slightly frustrated, I did not disparage anyone, nor did I disparage the product. I asked a question about how I could get around the problem.

I have been a customer of yours for some time. I was planning on licensing more webuzo installs.

Now I cannot find a way to delete posts so I can get the right post in the right place. So rather than starting a whole new thread, I'll repost the one in the correct place, here in webuzo:

Hi

Title says it all: How to add ssl/https to already existing wordpress install?

I installed wordpress using webuzo, for http initially because it was a temporary site.

Then I cloned from an active site to my temporary site (using a wordpress cloning tool), and the active site uses https.

So then I tried many ways around to activate https/port 443 for this site so it works right.

However, apache will not recognize the https port 443 for this site.

I even tried editing the wordpress install inside webuzo, but there is no option for turning on SSL after install (why not???)

I tried editing the webuzo virtual hosts file to add an SSL entry, but it broke things (apache wouldn't start).

I tried to add an SSL certificate with LetsEncrypt, but it won't even list the site in the drop down menu.

There is no option in the "manage domains" for specifying that I want this site with SSL.

How do I get webuzo to recognize this site as an SSL site?

There must be a config file or database entry somewhere in webuzo that I can modify to get it to recognize this as an SSL site.

Thanks

Hi,

If a valid certificate is installed on your domain than it shall redirect it to the https protocol. To make your WordPress installation redirect to the https protocol you can do the following:

1. Change the protocol from your wp-admin page from the WordPress Admin Panel -> Settings -> General and change the protocols in "WordPress Address (URL)" and "Site Address (URL)"
https://prnt.sc/gk3tjl

2. Now change the protocol in Webuzo to update the WordPress records in your panel from the Edit Installation Page of your installation and change the "URL" variable from http to https. You can refer to our guide here for more details on how to edit the installation:
http://softaculous.com/docs/How_to_edit_an_installation

Hope this helps you.

Please let us know if you need any further information. We will be happy to help you.

Hi,

Also to check why your domain is not being shown in the Lets Encrypt drop down menu, can you please open a support ticket here with your server root details and we shall look into the same:

Hello,

Thanks for your previous response. Your response was helpful, though it is frustrating the procedure for setting up a website that is migrated from another already-operating word press install. It add unnecessary contortions that first a valid certificate must be installed before 443 can be used.

And worse, I have a fresh install of webuzo, and the Let's Encrypt is not showing the option to issue a certificate for the domains. So now I am stuck.

I have filed a support ticket.

Thanks
M
