Hello,

General description of the problem is that AMPPS' response time is very high.
I wait 5 secs for a page refresh, with the browser status bar saying "Waiting for localhost".

I've checked the hosts file and it has the "127.0.0.1  localhost" line.

I've attached the apache error and access log files.

Thanks!
Nick

normally if you make in ampps a new domain or subdomain , all stuff wil be write in hostfile from windows system...

127.0.0.1 example.com
127.0.0.1 www.example.com

about your ampps running slow , dont forget windows 8 needs alot to run on his own system...
if you wanna run a server its better to remote control the systems...

normally if you just test your stuff on localhost or 127.0.0.1 ammps must running fast...

for running ammps at the best way you need a ram of 6gb or 8gb at least...
dualcore can be working fast but how more how better...

and if you have more than one pc , contact your server to remote control...

Hi,

Try to access http://127.0.0.1/, is this also slow?

If yes, then try to do the following things,

- Disable the Windows Firewall.
- Disable IPv6 support, if its enabled.
- Edit the 'hosts' file.

The 'hosts' file is usually located in the 'C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc' directory on most systems.

if the following line is commented out:

# 127.0.0.1 localhost

Uncomment the line:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Save the file. Try loading pages in Apache again. Should be back to normal speed.

If its still not working then try to add the following line in the hosts file,

127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1

Save the file and check again.

If you facing the same problem again then open a support ticket to get better support,

Hi ChronicD, could you please tell me what of those instructions worked for you? or you did all of them?
Im in a similar situation but on OSX Mavericks. I dont know why, but i had configured 127.0.0.1 localhost before, and i removed it and it works a little bit faster. But sometimes it just hangs, like a bottle neck if you understand. Just didnt tried 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1, you think it could work?
thanks

Hey there,

Right so i got the speed increase by uncommenting "# 127.0.0.1 localhost" this was on mavericks and it gave me the speed increases.

So after that i had a hanging issue with mysql (not apache). If i remember correctly nothing i did (restarting the app or computer) would get mysql going again.

The only way i found i could make this work was to delete the files in the mysql bin and then ampps would rebuild it when it turned the service on. However the side effect was it killed my databases...

solution i moved to mamps - lifes to short.

Tidus, i was using hosts file defined by myself because i needed to touch a few other things and i was afraid that ampps was going to brake that. I had configured all my domains in one line, 127.0.0.1 mydomain1 mydomain2...
I didnt allow ampps to write in hosts file, but the i started allowing it and the bottleneck has reduced a lot. Of course, each domain now has one line
127.0.0.1 mydomain1
127.0.0.1 mydomain2
but it doesnt seem to be a latency issue so i resolved it that way

thanks for your concern! i've already recommended ampps in twitter, i think its great

Also had this problem it's something to do with Windows Firewall but what I don't know. I'll just have to leave it off and use my anti-virus Firewall instead
