Tried the detail below but it does not make a difference - NOTE that Port 80 is being using by 'NT Kernel & System' on my machine. Any other suggestions? If I can't use port 80 then I can't use ampps...

In Windows Port 80 is used by IIS server or Skype

Try this:

In Run(windows+R) type services.msc and press enter.
Search for World Wide Web Publishing Service or IIS and stop this service.
