Topic : MySQL won't start on Kubuntu 16.04 LTS

Posted By: dan_ on May 30, 2016, 9:06 am
This happened on a freshly installed Kubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit system.

Ampps Control Center and Apache starts after sudo ./Ampps.

MySQL seems to be started by default but actually it doesn't run (its "Stop" button is active while the "Start" button is faded). I tried to solve the problem (checking logs etc.) but without any success.

(Some Qt related issues I also noticed, which are listed in another post, here: ?tid=8702#p31468. I can't make this a real link, since I am new to this forum.)

Is another version of MySQL is already installed ?

run which mysqld on Terminal and check its showing /usr/local/ampps path or not.

Also show us MySQL error log.

Thank you Rishi_P for your reply based on which I could solve this problem.

which mysqld output was /usr/sbin/mysqld if I can remember well. I am not sure because in the meantime I have removed everything MySQL-related from my system and now Ampps is working.

It seems that Kubuntu is shipped with some MySQL-based app that may be in conflict with the MySQL of Ampps.
