Topic : Domains browsing as if contained inside namesake folder

Posted By: graphicpilot on December 10, 2020, 9:19 pm
I'm having trouble with domains I'm creating browsing as if they are another folder of the same name within themselves.

Example:

somedomain.tld/somedomain.tld

I did these steps:
  1. Created a domain, entered 'somedomain.local' in top box, left box checked for parked, domain path looks correct ('Applications/AMPPS/www/somedomain.local')
  2. Installed WordPress with Softaculus installer, chose proper domain, left directory box blank for installation in the root, install completed properly
  3. double  checked that hosts file has somedomain.local pointed to localhost, its good

Now when I browse to somedomain.local I see an index with a folder of the same name in it (somedomain.local). When I browse that, WordPress loads but the the theme does not and its unstyled, no CSS. The URL in the address bar reads 'somedomain.local/somedomain.local'.

Is the issue with configuration on my machine, AMPPS, Apache or other? Please help!

I'm on a Mac on OS 10.15 and AMPPS 3.9, installed fresh today.

try something other than .local ... in windows, chrome, .local is now a "reserved" name and does not work correctly with routing.

I'm not sure if mac OS and safari is moving to that (stupid) "reserved standard" too, but worth a shot if you have no other suggestions
