I'm also experiencing this problem. It will create the folder with the specified script but it will not import or create the MySQL DB. I will always get something related to the MySQL not being found.

There are firewalls which cause this issue to occur.
You will need to allow the servers own IP to enable softaculous to create Databases.

phpBB Database is created but the SQL is not being imported
it means MySQL import in the BACKEND via SHELL is diabled on your server.
Please enable it and things will work immediately

Hi,

How do I enable this? So far I've installed Softaculous on 3 servers and have the same problem on all 3 servers. The databases doesn't get created, on any script that I install it on

Do you have firewalls blocking IP 127.0.0.1
Please allow IP 127.0.0.1

Shell Import is enabled on your servers.
Softaculous uses LOCALHOST to create Databases and hence you need to allow 127.0.0.1

Alons

Why don't you just include the fix in an update so that everyone can get it?

Posted By: alons on July 17, 2009, 3:27 pm | Post: 38
Sir for this issue the fix has been included already.
Some servers however block IP addrsses with Firewalls even their own IP addresses.
To allow the local IP 127.0.0.1 the Admin has to clear the same.

However we have now started working on a completely different method of connecting to cPanel.
It shall hopefully be added ASAP in 1.8 itself.
However we will need to test it thoroughly before releasing the same.

Regards,
Alons

I haven't heard of a scenario like this before. Many services will either fail, or give a lot of errors if 127.0.0.1 is blocked. But, why don't you use the main configured IP in cPanel instead?

what do you mean by this, and where / how does one fix it?

Posted By: alons on July 17, 2009, 4:00 pm | Post: 40
No sir they do block 127.0.0.1.
I have added it and fixed it myself on 2-3 servers.

Mysql daemon has a capability to import local sql files.
Some servers may have Safe Mode ON and that may block PHPs shell_exec function causing a failure.

I enabled shell_exec and I am still having this problem. Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL.

I tried adding this ip to the server ip with csf and it says:
Allowing 127.0.0.1...
add failed: 127.0.0.1 is one of this servers IPs!

rlshosting, after enabling shell_exec, did you reinstall the scripts?
If you didn't then you should ;)

I reinstalled the scripts and they give me the same error message.

Enabling shell_exec did do the trick for us.
Did you restart httpd after enabling shell_exec?
