I've had a few clients report that softaculous isn't working. 2 of them said Wordpress doesn't work after the install. It installs, but displays a 403 error in the directory. I've checked the installation, and everything looks fine. So, something in softaculous must be messed up.

Another user reported that his wordpress MU installation wasn't working properly. It just shows the admin area as a normal wordpress blog.

A few other scripts give 403 errors as well after being installed. Any ideas? I run the latest Direct Admin.

Hi,

WordPress MU requires Apache.
And for wordpress blogs have you installed suPHP.
Softaculous tries to detect suPHP but there is no full proof method to do so in PHP.
hence you may need to add the required permissions in Softaculous Admin Panel.

If you could make a demo account for me, I could check the same.

WordPress was no installed on your server. Its disabled by you.

WordPress MU is working just fine.
I tested it and created a blog:
http://test.x-ind.com/wpmu/sd/

Blog options are in "Site Admin" in WPMU Admin Panel.

You installed in a folder though. Attempt to install in the root directory.
Also, wordpress is installed now.

Hi,

I installed it in the root directory as well.
The Blogs site Admin is there and its working properly sir. I made a test blog as well:
http://test.x-ind.com/test/

Wordpress is also working fine:
http://test.x-ind.com/wp/

I have PMed you the login details of both the installations.

Note, you put them in folders. I left it in the root directory.

It says "test.x-ind.com/test"

Mine is at s1.x-ind.com/

I didn't create a folder.

Its in the root directory sir.
Any additional blogs you create in WPMU will be :
test.x-ind.com/blogname

You can login at:
test.x-ind.com/wp-admin

Hi,

I guess you accidentally installed WordPress instead of WPMU.
Delete it first and make a reinstall.

Softaculous does not detect if the directory is empty before installing another script? If one person installed 2 scripts in the same directory then it will really mess it up unless softaculous will make a way to prevent this. Fantastico and cPanel site software do prevent this from happening

Hi,

Gieathome this topic is not fully related to your point unless Schmarvin has installed WP on WPMU in the root directory.

Softaculous creates its own directories for a script if installed in a directory.
If its installed in the ROOT Directory then Softaculous simply replaces the files.

We have already taken note of this and there will be a feature that will ask whether to overwrite the files or not in Softaculous 2.4

This system is being developed and will soon be under testing.

No, it is only WPMU installed. I even showed you pictures of it being installed. And what the admin panel looks like. So its Softaculous problems, not user-error.

Alons, according to Schmarvin this is a problem with Softaculous. You would have to address this together with the one I pointed out (it should not be possible to install 2 or more scripts in one directory).

I hope softaculous will fix all its bugs. I have dropped Fantastico in favor of Softaculous but my hosting clients do not want Softaculous because according to them they are experiencing so many bugs/errors :( So I hope make softaculous a stable version just like Fantastico and Installatron or my hosting clients might switch to other hosts running fantastico/installatron just because of this script :(
