Hi I am user level on my server with the following port:2222. I was not able to log in into my FTP program (filezilla) onto my port:2222 server to migrate my wp files to my new server.  Excuse me if i am not using words accordingly, i am only a beginner but a determined one at that.

I am trying to move my wp installations from my old server which has (Installatron), to my new server using Softaculous. However I am unable to use the remote server auto installer, when I do I receive the error "Could not Resolve Domain Name".

In the past few days I have tried a more manual approach by backing up the files, changing the wp-config.php file and unsuccessfully migrating those files onto my new server using Filezilla.

Does anyone know how I can go about migrating my WP installations successfully onto my new server, considering the server Im moving them from is not letting me access through my FTP program??  ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED !

Hi,

You can migrate your installation by following the below guide:https://softaculous.com/docs/Remote_Import

>>Could not Resolve Domain Name
This error comes when domain is not pointing to the correct server , please make sure is your domain is pointing to the correct server, also make sure if you are able to FTP manually via filezilla client , Softaculous remote import also does FTP to the remote server to fetch the files.

If you still facing the issue so please open support ticket at https://www.softaculous.com/support/

Thanks so much for the response, Do you mind helping me understand a bit about how to find where the domain is pointing. I had put the Nameserver located in my DNS management of my new DA server, in my domain hosting platform.... before uploading the WP installation or database. I did this because I had migrated the files manually but the site was not working properly, so i deleted the files and database in the new server to start over. Where do I find the correct Nameserver to point my domain to? Till this point I only have a domain folder on my new DA server waiting for me to migrate the files.

And do you know why I am not able to enter with my port:2222 server through the FTP ?  I am only a user on that server thats why I figured it was not letting me through. When I try with FTP it says "connection time out.. 20 seconds.. server took too long to respond"

Hi,

You need to point your domain name to your source server i.e. the server where your installation was working previously in order to use Remote Import. Once the installation is imported you can then change the namservers to your new server.

Regarding your FTP not working with port 2222 you will need to contact your web host regarding this.

Hi Salman, thanks for your response, sorry another question? You are saying that the Nameserver of the new server where the domain name is needs to be set with the NS of the old server?

I have changed the NS in my registrar? or hosting. The NS needs to match there? or Do they need to match on the new server under DNS management?

Hi,

Change your nameserver in your registrar to point to the old server then perform Remote Import.
Use the nameservers that your old web host provided you.
