Topic : Setting up ampps domain not working in browser

Posted By: davecan on January 4, 2018, 7:37 pm
I'm trying to set up my Windows 10 ampps so that when I type ampps/ in Chrome, it automatically goes to the page that localhost/ampps does. I've gone into Add Domain and added domain ampps which automatically goes to 127.0.0.1, then saved ampps to my C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file (the same way localhost is saved, yes I know how to use the hosts file, as admin too).

When I then go to ampps/ in the browser, it just redirects to the index of the ampps folder, not the dashboard.

Any other domain I set up works as expected. I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

Nevermind, I realized I was just pointing it to the wrong directory.

Hello davecan,

as a student in a class of 8, who are daily facing this issue,
can you please explain how to rewrite the good directory ?

we do not know how to use (at least as good as you) the hosts file.

The only solution we get, for now, is to uninstall / re-install AMPPS. 4 times today for the same pc.

thanks, cripoche

I actually discovered that solution didn't work as expected, so I'm back to square one.

I'll reply here again if I find a solution.
