I have been using Ampps with no problems at all for some time. I recently started a project that is utilizing new MySQL data types from 5.7.8 for instance the json datatype. I see that the mysql version in the latest Ampps is 5.6.31

What is the best way to upgrade MySQL in Ampps without destroying everything else?

Anyone got any suggestions on being able to upgrade the MySQL in AMPPS?

I am also curious about this.

@dxhans5, could you finally upgrade MySQL to 5.7.x?
