A lot of my users are complaining about gettng Internal Server Error 500s when installing scripts with Softaculous. The reason being is that my server is running suPHP which does not allow files or directories to be set to 0777 and will throw an error 500 if detected.

Could you include an option for servers using suPHP to chmod files/folders to 0755 instead?

I'm also facing this issue. Any timeframe on a resolution/quick fix? It's not really friendly to have to constantly set peoples permissions back, as it resets their public_html directory permissions as well.

I didn't even know it set user's public_html folders as world writable! I've disabled the script and plan on purchasing an Installatron license unless this is fixed quickly.

Agreed KuJoe. Softaculous has been disabled on my server until further notice.

Does other people have the same problem? If so then it is a critical security issue!

If they're running the same version, they're having the same problem.

Apparently a large security hole isn't enough pressure to get him to fix it any faster, but he can still reply to topics about Translations.

On that note, I've went ahead and licensed my server for Installatron now, no need for Softaculous. Looked to be such a promising script too.

Another major issue is that when you remove a script installed by Softaculous it removes the whole directory... so if you install the script in public_html it wipes the whole directory AND everything in it! After doing a handful of restores for my users I decided to purchase an Installatron license also.

I already had a Installatron license but thought this would be a realy good alternative. I stay with Installatron and give this a try after this is fixed.

The public_html bug is fixed and will be released by 17 June 2009
We understand the issue and have fixed this issue.
We are thouroughly testing it to prevent further issues.

Yes that is a restriction that we had to impose.
There is no way we can allow to delete the public_html folder.

However if you installed in a particular directory like aef then you may delete the folder.
