Topic : Securing AMPPS

I was able to set a password for AMPPS admin through the Security Center.  I was unable to set a password for phpMyAdmin because I couldn't figure out how to do it.  I tried the link to set a password for mySQL and it was pre-filling the old password and wouldn't let me reset it.

I suspect that the mySQL password was the AMPPS password, since it was pre-filling it, even after I deleted cookies for AMPPS and made sure there was no saved password for AMPPS in Firefox saved passwords.  So, do I need to set the mySQL password and phpMyAdmin passwords for security on the local network.

If so, how do I do that?  For phpMyAdmin it says "phpMyAdmin is accessible by network without password. Set the configuration auth_type to "http" or "cookie" in the config.inc.php ", so what file is auth_type in and how do I find it?  For mySQL it says "To secure MySQL, change your password to anything other than Empty Password or "mysql"(Default) ", but the link I tried for doing that is not letting me set the new password - do I need to do that in a file?  If so, what file and how do I locate it?

Thanks for any assistance
