I installed wordpress multisite with softaculous with success. I need to know how to add a new website. when I went to the network dashboard and selected "add site" it only gives me the option to add a site on my original website as a subdomain

meaning, it only gives me the option to add a new site as

originaldomain.com/___________

what did I do wrong on the softaculous install??????

Hi,

While configuring Multisite via Softaculous we enable Sub Directory Multisite where you can add new sites at :
originaldomain.com/___________

In order to add a sub domain multisite you will need to configure Multisite manually. However this will also allow to add sites on your original domain as a sub domain :
_______.originaldomain.com

You will not be able to add new sites on separate domains with the same WordPress multisite installation :
____________________.com

You will need to install separate WordPress installations on your domains.
http://www.softaculous.com/docs/Install_a_Script

Choose the domain under "Choose Domain" dropdown.

Hi, I'm looking to take a subdomain say a.example.com and create b.a.example.com. However, all of our subdomains currently run off of one wp install and we'd like to avoid having separate installs on each subdomain.

I created a sub subdomain via cpanel and then tried to use softaculous to copy the same wp install on to this new sub subdomain, but it says it already has a wp install.

Why can't you add another site through the same wordpess install?

Is there any way around this? Or a way to establish a sub sub domain in cpanel without having it auto install the wp install?

Hi,

If you want to use the same WordPress files and database for multiple websites you will need to enable WordPress MultiSite (Sub Domain) using the following guide :
