Topic : Underscore in TXT and CNAME

Posted By: gurugrv on September 30, 2014, 6:33 pm
Hi, I need to use AWS and Google DKIM and for that underscores are required in TXT and CNAME records, which is unfortunately not allowed by Webuzo (I guess).

How do I get around this ? Please help me out.

Hi,

Sir, underscores for CNAME is not allowed as per RFC rules.
You want you can use it as TEXT record or you can edit the zone file manually.

I am receiving this error when using an underscore in the name field for a TXT record:

"You entered some invalid data for the Name field"

I am trying to setup DKIM with the name as 'default._domainkey'.

Can you please let me know how to solve this ASAP?!

Thanks.

Sir we shall replicate the issue on our servers and fix it ASAP.

Apology go the trouble caused.

For now, you can edit the zone file manually located at /var/named/yourdomainname.tld.zone

Restart the BIND service
Root > service named restart

Hope it helps \m/
