Mac and Windows are different. I won't go into the details, just know what some things may work differently between the two systems.
I'm not going to belabor the point. The real issue is that THIS software hasn't updated in far too long, and I just cannot keep waiting to see if there will be any further development. So, jump ship and use whatever works however it works.
As for this topic, I'm kinda done. No point flagellating a deceased equine any further.

I cannot imagine that it is not the same on windows, there is a tab in MAMP to set the sever root
