Topic : PHP crash error

Posted By: lpgascon on April 22, 2014, 3:20 pm
Recently our AMPPS stack has been crashing 5 times a day with the following PHP error:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function fastestmirror() in ...\cron.php on line 204.

What could cause this?

Thanks

I wonder if this could be related to the Auto-updates? (Since it is a cron job).

I've disabled auto-updates to see if it still crashes.

Hi,

Okay. We will check this and revert back to you with a workaround.

Cancelling auto-update did not help. Still crashing randomly about twice a day.

let me know if you have something i can try.

here are exemples of the exact error messages i'm getting in my PHP error log

[22-Apr-2014 14:00:33 Europe/London] PHP Fatal error:  Call to undefined function fastestmirror() in D:\Ampps\ampps\softaculous\cron.php on line 204
[23-Apr-2014 02:48:45 Europe/London] PHP Fatal error:  Call to undefined function fastestmirror() in D:\Ampps\ampps\softaculous\cron.php on line 204
[23-Apr-2014 15:48:44 Europe/London] PHP Fatal error:  Call to undefined function fastestmirror() in D:\Ampps\ampps\softaculous\cron.php on line 204
[24-Apr-2014 04:48:43 Europe/London] PHP Fatal error:  Call to undefined function fastestmirror() in D:\Ampps\ampps\softaculous\cron.php on line 204

not sure why it's using Europe/London time but i guess that not an issue.

I've also just tried changing the Cron job time from 1 12 * * * to 1 12 1 1 * to make sure it doesn't run. Not sure if it's related

Hi,

What is the version of Softaculous ?

You should be able to check that in Admin Panel or in the Footer.

Hi,

It seems your update was broken for some reason. Please download the file:
http://files.ampps.com/4.4.5.zip

And extract it at D:\Ampps\ampps\softaculous

Note: Other users, please don't update Softaculous manually, we don't recommend it.

Update manually to 4.4.5, Thought it fixed the issue at first but 2 days after it crashed again. Didn't see any PHP errors in the log this time.

Since i've upgraded manually i also get this on the top left of the Admin console page

#!"{$path}/php/php-cgi.exe"

don't think it relates to my issue.

My next step is to probably reinstall everything.
I wonder if it is my Drupal site that is causing the crash. I t was working fine for months.

Hi,

Drupal installation shouldn't affect Ampps.

You can check the log in Windows Event Viewer ( Start -> Run -> type "eventvwr" -> Press enter)

Check Windows Log -> Application and find the information on the crash of Ampps.
