I recently moved from mamp to ampps. I restored a joomla site using akeeba backup to the ampps mysql and file directory on localhost. I was attempting a backup with the softaculous system, but it seems it doesn't recognize the site. The files are currently in a subdirectory in the www folder. Any help would be appreciated.

Another related question Brijesh,

I backed up a localhost site and uploaded to /softaculous_backups but softaculous wouldn't recognize it. Host provider (inmotion) said it wouldn't unless it was backed up on the host server. Annoyed, I used Akeeba to backup and restore. Now I want to do some work on the local host. If I run a backup on live host and download to localhost backups folder, will softaculous read it? If not, will this basic feature be available in the future? It is very necessary for me when upgrading live social sites.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The backups will be recognized if the installation id of the installation on live server and localhost are the same. You will need to edit the installation id of the installation in .softaculous/installations.php for that installation and then the backups will be reading on your local server as well.

However please not that the existing backups wont work once you edit the installation id.

Also Joomla has the path of tmp folder etc in the configuration.php and the paths on localhost and on live servers will not match so you will have to change them manually.

the article under the above link  "How_to_Import_an_Installation" describes how to instal an software-script provided by apps.
in the above documentation the example is given by the supported software-script `wordpress´.

so does it mean, an installation is only supported for software which is provided by apps?

how I can implement software-scripts which are not enlisted within apps? any further installation routine available or in development??

Hi,

I am not sure what are you trying to do exactly. I will try to explain you few possibilities. Let me know if you still have any doubts.

Note : Import Feature in Softaculous will only fetch the details of already installed scripts like WordPress, Joomla, etc (which are listed in apps). It does not change anything is files or database. By importing installations, users can manage(upadate, remove, edit) their script installation from Softaculous.

1. I am assuming here that you want to move your script from other stack to Ampps. AMPPS does not have any function to do this. You will have to do it manually.

2. I am assuming here that you have created your own script and want to integrate into ampps. Well, you can create a Custom Script Package first. After you have created a Custom Script Package, you should add the same as Custom Script

thank you very much for your instant reply and support.

your "customs script package" seems exactly what I was looking for.

would be great should there be an automated integration tool in the future,
in order to import own or third party scripts with more ease.
