Is Joomla auto-upgradeable?

I thought I saw the option to make Joomla auto-upgradeble on our old server. Now I do not see this option on our new WHM.

Thank you

If Softaculous does not have an auto-upgrade option for Joomla sites, does it at least have the option to manually upgrade all Joomla sites at once?

Softaculous can upgrade individual Joomla sites manually, so it should be a small programming update to allow an admin to upgrade many sites at once?

Joomla is considered by many to be a superior CMS to Wordpress, so I do not understand why Softaculous is not putting equal development into Joomla.

Thank you

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

At the moment it is not possible to auto upgrade the Joomla installations from Softaculous admin panel or auto upgrade via CRON because Joomla requires admin login to update the database and Softaculous does not store the admin login details of the installation.

I am discussing this with our scripts team to check if we can provide auto upgrade option for Joomla using any other workaround for database upgrade.

We will try to add it asap.

Siteground has a Joomla Auto-Update plugin. Perhaps you can use their method?

Actually not entirely true. Use configuration.php for sql account info and take a look at the directory:
Quote
/administrator/components/com_admin/sql/updates

In here you'll find 3 directories:
Quote
mysql          postgresql      sqlazure

Depending on the DB in use, for instance, mysql:

86 Aug  4 23:44 3.6.0-2016-06-01.sql

--snip-snip--

These are the incremental changes that need to be applied to updates. You basically just need  to keep track of the last update date and if newer one appears, apply it.  I'm pretty sure this is how siteground is doing it.

Hi,

Extremely sorry for the delay in adding Auto Upgrade for Joomla.

I just confirmed with our scripts team and they said the auto upgrade for Joomla is ready and we are currently testing it with the installations of all versions of Joomla to make sure nothing breaks.

The testing should be done by this week and we plan to release the package by next week.

Thank you for your patience.

Are there any plans to make this auto-upgrade option automatic. IE like the ability you have for Word Press. I noticed when I went to the control panel, basically this feature allows you upgrade Joomla from within cPanel, but for me it still requires logging into about 75 cPanel/Joomla sites!

I was hoping I could be able to tick the "auto upgrade" option, but even in the softculous admin settings->auto upgrade, Joomla is missing from being able to add it to auto upgrade. :(
