I need to be able to use the MATCH AGAINST function on fulltext enabled columns with the innoDB engine, which can only be done using MySQL version 5.6 onwards.

Is there a way to upgrade this, without waiting for the AMPPS package to get to that version?

Hi,

Yes you can. But at your own risk.

Close MySQL server.

First take backup of mysql data. i.e Ampps\mysql\data

Download the 32 bit zip format of the mysql installation from mysql's website.

Extract to Ampps/mysql (maintain the structure).

Start MySQL server. Look for logs if anything needs to be upgraded manually.

Note : Above method is only for windows.
