Softaculous

Topic : Pulling additional information from API

Posted By: dalehosting on September 25, 2015, 6:24 pm
Hello,

I am currently testing softaculous remote for a web hosting company. I have already been able to install/delete/edit scripts fairly easily. However I have some concerns.

[ul]
[li]Some app images have .gif while others have .png, this makes it a bit difficult to have $APP_logo.gif [/li]
[li]Is it possible through API, to list what data is needed for each app? I mean some apps need for instance Mailing List Name, Store Address, some don't need a database,  or admin/password,  etc  How can I know which values each app needs in order to dynamically create the forms to install them? [/li]
[li]Is it possible to get the application's description and demo url through the api?[/li]

Thank you in advance for any help. So far softaculous works well but these items have me hesitating.

Kind regards,
Ramiro.

The logos in /images folder in the package have this variation but we have the images in GIF format as well as PNG format for all scripts hosted on our site i.e. images.softaculous.com
Can you please let us know which dimension logo are you looking for so that I can provide you the appropriate URL for the same.

Yes just make a call to the app page Eg: For WordPress :
Code
act=software&soft=26&api=json

and then look for the array key settings which will have the list of fields for installing particular application.

You can make a call to the following URL :
http://www.softaculous.com/scripts.php?in=json

You will get the description in the description key and for the demo URL you can use "https://demos.softaculous.com/URLNAME". You can get the URLNAME from the above URL.
