 phpmyadmin problem, cannot connect to msql (3 Replies, Read 2668 times)

Hello everyone,

I installed the ampps package onto my win7 laptop. Initial problem I had was the blank pages for the control panel, but I read a suggestion on this board by an admin and it fixed the issue.

Currently, I'm having this problem when selecting phpmyadmin:

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.


This is straight out of box. I didn't set any passwords, but i know "mysql" should be the default password. I've tried to do some suggestions on editing the config.inc.php, but nothing works. Same error.

I'm at my wits end.

I figured it out.

I had a 2nd instance of MYSQL running which I downloaded as standalone months ago! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
