Hi everyone,

I have this situation:

I used to work with an Ammps installation, that now due to hardware I can't access anymore. I do have access to the files of the hard disk though.

Is there a way to recover the WordPress installation I had? I tryed to just copy the website filed (WordPress files etc...) and database (simply copy the content of the folder Ampps / mysql / data ).

But that wasn't enough to make the installation appear in the Ammps backend.

How should I try?

Thanks a lot and have a nice day,

Simone

Install ampps on your new machine and under that installation, WordPress - same version number as you had before and install it to a directory of the same name as before.  You will need to have the same admin name & password, WordPress database name etc.

Then copy your entire wordpress directory from the hard drive to you new directory, again with the same names.

That should give you all your files & plugins but the data in the database will be empty.

You will probably have to migrate the mysql contents separately.  Thru the ampps cPanel you might be able to change your new mysql password to the same as the old password, and you need to make sure that the WordPress database password is also the same.

Good luck.
