Topic : Custom FROM email address

Posted By: estebanf on February 18, 2020, 1:15 am
Hello,

I would like to know if it's possible to set the FROM address as a variable so I could set it depending on the customer's reseller account.

Thanks a lot,
Esteban.

Hi,

Which panel are you using ?

You can set the From Email from the Reseller panel in Softaculous and it will be used for the users under their respective resellers.

I'm using WHM/cPanel, thanks a lot for your reply, will try that and post the results.

Esteban.

Allright, I've done some tests and this is what I've found: (WHM/cPanel)

1. If you give your reseller root privileges (Resellers -> Edit Reseller Nameservers and Privileges) by clicking the "Everything" checkbox, than softaculous will pick up the main root configuration from the universal.php file, so it will be the same value across all resellers that have root permissions enabled.

2. If you don't give root permissions, then softaculous will write a file named reseller_universal under /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/conf/universals folder (location may vary

3. Root permissions will override this file if you make a reseller root after setting specific values, and the universal.php will come into effect.

Cheers,
Esteban.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Yes if the reseller has root privileges it is considered as root and hence the root configuration saved in universal.php is used for all users.

If the reseller does not have root privileges it is considered as a reseller and the users owned by that reseller account will inherit the configuration from the reseller configuration set in Softaculous Reseller panel.
