Softaculous

Topic : Manually upgrading webservers and over-copying websites

Having been using Softaculous 2.x for a while on my Windows Vista PC, running it as a testbed for my server-based website packages before uploading them to various webspaces I manage, I've recently been having a problem with the AmppsUpdate function crashing. I therefore thought of re-installing my local server on my PC. I therefore made a full copy of the Ampps directories, including the www and MySQL folders, since I had successfully done that with other similar standalone webservers, with the intention of copying back the folders once I'd successfully re-installed Ampps.
I noticed that Ampps was now in version 3, and so have instead downloaded that and installed it in a new sub-directory, again copying back the various web and MySQL folders, checking and they appear to work within my 'localhost' environment.
However, unlike my version 2 server in which I had installed the various Joomla, WordPress and other packages, I do not have any installed packages shown on the 'http://localhost/ampps/index.php?act=installations' page. This is because I had not re-installed the various local sites through the new Softaculous interface, I presume.
Is there any way to import in the various scripts now sitting on my 'localhost' server, without having to re-install everything from scratch, given that that would also entail importing in and installing various themes and data to my numerous Joomla and Wordpress testbeds and local development mirrors?

Hi,

You will need to move the following folder from your old installation of AMPPS to the new one :
/path/to/ampps/private/

Brijesh,
Thanks for this. Yes. I had done that already, and there was a complete copy of my www/* and mysql/data/* folders in the new set-up, though there were no references to any installed scripts in the new 3.0 Ampps  Home page. However, I have found that by going to the relevant type of website install page, and 'importing' the directories, that then adds the relevant links to the Installation page. I can now see all the installations, and am able to update them as I wish. I'm therefore posting this response for the benefit of others who may be in the same situation.
