Topic : Password Sanitization Bug

Posted By: ollyx on August 29, 2015, 9:17 pm
Hello,

Version AMPS 3.3 - built june 17 2015
OS X 10.10.5 (14F27)

I was having trouble securing AMPPS with a password - I read through the help topic, and the bug reports listed here on the forum and got it working no problem - but I was still confused as to why my password wasn't working - I would be able to connect to MYSQL.

The problem was with the password in the end - my password contained the '&' (ampersand) charachter - and when I used this charachter - I had to then change the password to login to AMPPS control web  panel to &

for example if my password that I entered was
this&that
the password got changed to
this&that

I think this might be a problem with the way text-fields are sanitized (??) or how characters are saved in the MYSQL database, or where ever they are saved, when saving login details.

I hope this makes sense.
