i began with this same problem/error message when trying to install phpmyadmin on my php info page.
i created the symlink referenced in this thread and after i did, i was finally able to successfully install phpmyadmin and i no longer see this error message at the bottom of the info page, BUT, i'm still getting:Quote The mysqli|mysql extension is missing. Please check your PHP configuration. See our documentation for more information.
the extension is uncommented in the php.ini file and now that the install was successful, i can't figure out what the problem is.
