Has anyone had any luck getting a local or remote connection via Excel (Mac OS, Excel 2016) connection to AMPPS MySQL? I saw this link in the forum http://www.softaculous.com/board/index.php?tid=8619, with what appears to be a similar question, and no responses.
I've confirmed that MySQL is open to connections remotely, by telnetting (both locally and remotely) via telnet myipaddress 3306, at which point I get: Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. J 5.6.251S.+,:~?e7"@^78Rvy|$mysql_native_password which leads me to believe, from some Googling, that MySQL is accepting connections. I've tried connecting via Excel on Windows on local network, and getting a connection error using the general "Other data source". On my own Mac with Excel 2016, Excel doesn't even seem to ship with an SQL ODBC driver (other than MS SQL). I downloaded one from a link on the Microsoft support pages, but it definitely doesn't work. So - has anyone managed to make this work, and if so could you share some tips? |
