Hi

I have enabled auto update on some of my wordpress sites. This includes the auto plugin update, auto theme update.

The core files seem to update when there is a new wordpress out, however the plugins and the themes do not update over night.

Should the plugins update over night when there is now core update? How does it work?

Hi,

Did you enable the "Auto Upgrade WordPress Plugins" and "Auto Upgrade WordPress Themes" checkbox while installing WordPress ?

Enabling "Auto Update" will just update the core but to enable auto update for plugins and themes you need to select the above checkboxes.

You can modify this from "Edit Installation" page.

Yes, the auto update for the wordpress have been ticked

the auto update for themes have been ticked

the auto update for plugins have been ticked

What i need to understand is should the installation update the plugins if the core is already up to date?

As currently the core is up to date, but the plugins are not being updated overnight.

Hi,

The plugin and theme updates will be done when the core is updated via Softaculous.

ah ok, i understand now why the plugins did not update over night.

Is there a way we can run a command to force the update?

Has this issue made any progress?

I am currently looking to auto update plugins on WordPress installs that are controlled by softaculious.

Is there any way to make the plugins auto update independent to there being a new WordPress core released?
