Hi all,

The
introduction of Wordpress 5.0 has upset a lot of people  , so much so
that we now have ClassicPress (Open Source Wordpress without
Gutenberg).

Personally
I will transition over shortly but I am also interested in finding
out if Softaculous plan to add ClassicPress to the mix of currently
available CMS?

Regards,

Ducktape

Hi,

We will review and see if we can add ClassicPress.

However we cannot guarantee that we will be adding it.

We do offer WordPress 4.9.x branch to install in Softaculous which does not include Gutenberg. We will be also maintaining updates in this branch when WordPress releases the same.

Hi,
Hopefully you will add ClassicPress in the near future since I find it as the only real Open Source option for Wordpress.
Thank you for carrying the 4.9... update.

Ducktape

Sure we will discuss internally about this.

I'd also like to see ClassicPress added to Softaculous. I always use Softaculous to upload and maintain my sites (that backup to Google Drive facility is fantastic).

I've just converted a few of my sites over from Wordpress to ClassicPress and it would be great to have the option to keep managing them through Softaculous.

If Wordpress do decide to continue down the Gutenberg path then I can see ClassicPress becoming a very popular alternative.

Thanks Brijesh, but I may have been a little premature in my request.  :P   It's still only available in beta at the moment. I'll let you know when the first stable version is released.

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that ClassicPress 1.0.0 has now been released. https://www.classicpress.net/blog/2019/03/05/introducing-classicpress-1-0-0-aurora/

I believe this venture will have long-term viability... the level of support already has been amazing.

I hope you can add this in as an option to install via Softaculous as I currently use this to manage all my sites.

I second the suggestion about adding ClassicPress to the list of Softaculous installation options, now that it has reached v. 1.
I am already using it on three of my sites, and it is working fine. I have all my other sites on WP 4.9, but I am considering moving them, or at least some of them, to ClassicPress, since 4.9 can only be a temporary solution for avoiding Gutenberg. And I will be using ClassicPress for future sites too.

Of course, I am familiar enough with WP and ClassicPress for installing them manually. But for many users, having access to a one click install is important. And I agree that I like it too, since it makes things very easy!
(ClassicPress will be more than "WP 4.9 maintained": CP v. 1 will be a long term support version fully compatible with WP 4.9, and CP v.2 (possibly starting by the end of this year) will develop into a direction of its own. This looks like a very dynamic project with committed people.)

Hi,

Thank you for the detail.

We will review the script again.

Hi,

Just wondering if there is any progress on adding Classicpress to Softaculous. At the moment to install it I have to install WordPress first then use the migration plugin to convert it to CP. Then Softaculous shows it as an out of date version of WP. It would be great if it could just be installed directly and recognised correctly.

Cheers,

Hi,

We will add it when we get more request for the same. Also, it seems that there are very few stable versions released for Classicpress.

Yes, I understand. Obviously, there are still few stable versions for ClassicPress at this point, since the stable v. 1 was released last month. But from what I understand, there will be more in the months to come - first for the long-term support v. 1, then for the future v. 2.

ClassicPress is what many WP users disappointed with Gutenberg are looking for. The challenge for non-technical people is: 1) to know that such an option exists; 2) to be able to install it easily. This is what makes CP inclusion by Softaculous desirable, in my opinion.

Anyway, thank you for your efforts in providing Softaculous.

Just wanted to let you know that the next release of ClassicPress (v1.1.0) has a target date of 24th July 2019. You can read about this release and also long-term plans for version 2 here: https://www.classicpress.net/blog/2019/06/27/classicpress-development-update/

I'm still hoping you will consider adding ClassicPress to your software list sometime soon. At the moment I have to install WP4.9, run the migration plugin then disable update notifications in order to use ClassicPress with Softaculous management.
