Man! Days trying to join this forum as you cant search it,
join it, get a reply when you don't get the confirmation email and email board@....
and then nearly 10 minutes clicking *show a motorcycle, fire hydrant, bus* followed by a simple maths question ....then
*Error, user name already in use*
*name too long*.
whatever.

Days.....given up and spend just as long again, trying to register yet another account as the previous registration has not completed and I cant get a reply to confirm it (user name "schpengle")

SO! mini rant over (it would be REALLY USEFUL to be able to search this forum without having to go through the impossible sign up procedure)

THAT'S ALL I want to do is restore .... the default index.php file.
please.

The one that lists all your locally installed domains so you can click on them and go to the domain.
Like a dufus, I overwrote it and I am trying to find where it is to restore, or how to replace it without having to back everything up and reinstall AMPPS just so as to find that one page.

And below this... I see,,,, I have YET ANOTHER reCAPTHA window!
I am LOGGED IN... I mean, how long is THAT going to take again?

Man this is really not a good experience so far.

In other news, I think AMMPS (softaculous etc) is a fantastic product!
It really does blow me away.
I have been singing its praises over on our forum at pinegrow.

*UPDATE*
deleted link as im new and cant post, took 5 recaptcha to get to this point

but really, this forum could be a little easier to join.
...just hoping its not going to take another 10 minutes to post this via recaptha again!

oh and finally, any advice/examples of where people have customised that auto populated list of local domains would be really nice to see, or advice there off, so I can best customise it without nuking it :)

and good luck, sorry about the display of frustration, but I thought it best to notify you as I've been trying to join for some time, have lost registrations etc, and so its good to know as it obviously puts people off.

ok bye

update, logged in still cant post, due to recaptcha this is the worst forum I have ever ever used so here we go again trying got post......

Ok, so back in my happy place now... until I am about to spend another 5 minutes filling in a recaptcha *I'm not a robot* box.

SO, any updates?
Anyone know how I can reinstate the original, default AMPPS local host file that automatically lists the domains added in my WWW folder?

That really is a nice feature.

right.... recaptcha... lets see how many I have to succeed through this time......

I think that was 6 that time... sweet Jesus.
WHY bother creating an account if you still have to do this?

Ok, so 3 days now, any response on how to restore the default local host, Local web page to view the installed domains in the web browser under local host?

Report ticket also been raised,
No response there either.

Great product... support sadly lacking in both forum and ticketing system.

5 reCaptha's to post this.
Ridiculous

Have even up waiting and uninstalled AMPPS.

Then after reinstalling , downloading the entire 280MB it works again.
For one text file.......

I hope I wont be using this forum again.

*UPDATE*

To save anyone else the pain of staring at this forum, in order to restore the original
WEB HOME page......

I just realised, after all this that... you just have to delete the index.html file.
That you placed in the www directory.

then it all works!

if there is an index.html file (probably an index.php file too)
Then the server will serve THAT file, for the localhost homepage,

NOT the scripted, nice clickable directory view that I was looking to reinstate.
....it might save someone else the pain of the wait of this forum, associated tumble weeds rolling by.... etc
:)

and good luck

Ok, so this issue is now resolved.

And also, the support ticket just got answered, but said they didn't understand my question.

so here is my resolution again, so that it may help others here with the same problem.

Hi Lan,

Sorry for the delay in reply,

>>Ive overwritten the default localhost index.html or index.php file in the WWW folder, that lists the locally installed domains in a clickable list of al locally installed domains the www folder.

It turns out that I had just placed an index.html in my www directory to view, some time ago.
I had only needed to delete this index.html file and the local web home page worked as it should have - listing a clickable directory view of all the folders in there.

So, there WAS NO DEFAULT index.html page to restore, I simply needed to remove my own custom one and it worked.
