When the hostname is changed in the Cloud panel, it changes the name in vm server list and within the server.
However, the original name by which it was created always keeps the text of the original name, no matter how many times the name is changed.

It will still appear in the field: "Actual Hostname" and in the server name.

Hello,It seems to me that it happens when I run it from the whmcs plugin, it would be the time it takes to refresh the change, it can take a long time.

I attach the screenshot, after having restarted the VM 3 times. It is displayed that the original hostname still persists.

However, about the yesterday's ticket, now that enough time has passed, today (the next day) it is already displayed that the Original hostname was modified.
Thank you

Hi,

Do you mean, on WHMCS it failed for your setup ?
Callback is used to update WHMCS in this case and it takes some time to update on WHMCS panel as per cron.

There is a callback set up, that's true.

Just one thing I've noticed: the refresh time is somewhat long.

In my experience, though, it takes quite some time for the page to refresh.

A regular reboot would probably do it as well in most cases.

Hi there,

Here are some possible ways to change the hostname without changing the original hostname:

I don't know, which os you are using, but Here are all os solutions. I hope this will help you :)

In Windows, you can use the System Properties dialog box. Open the dialog box by right-clicking on My Computer and choosing Properties. Click on the Computer Name tab and then click on the Change button. In the Computer Name Changes dialog box, enter the new hostname in the Computer Name field and click on the OK button.

In Linux, you can use the hostnamectl command. To change the hostname temporarily, run the following command:

sudo hostname new_hostname
To change the hostname permanently, run the following command:

sudo hostnamectl set-hostname new_hostname
In macOS, you can use the System Preferences app. Open the app by clicking on the Apple menu and choosing System Preferences. Click on the Sharing icon and then enter the new hostname in the Computer Name field.

Thank You

Yes, this behavior is common in cloud panels and virtualization environments. The original hostname is often stored in a separate configuration file or database, while the current hostname is used for active communication and identification.

unning the hostnamectl command, using nmtui, or editing the hosts file to change the hostname permanently. Using the hostname [new_host_name] command to change the hostname temporarily and without rebooting the system.
