Posted By: Nube on January 4, 2013, 12:27 am
I used AMPPS since a lot of time now and I find it very usefull for my PHP programs and MySQL.. but now i would like to use it for another scope. As i have five  computers in my house (1 PC, two macs and two Amigas), i'd like to use my win computer as ftp server to share documents/muisc and other stuffs..

As I have never set up an ftp server, may you help me and may you be so kind, to explain me how to set up an ftp server for my scope?

thanks :-)

Hi,

AMPPS includes FileZilla Server as the FTP Server

In AMPPS Application -> FTP Tab -> Start. This will start your FTP Server. In case if it does not start, go to folder path\to\Ampps\filezilla right click on FileZilla Server -> Run as Administrator. Install & Start the Server.

Now you can use FileZilla Interface in the same folder to create and manage users or you do the same from AMPPS Enduser Panel.

You can learn more about FileZilla Server from here :
http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Documentation

You must have an FTP client to actually transfer the files. :)

This is where I get really lost with AMPPS. The post below simply states :
In AMPPS Application -> FTP Tab -> Start

Am I missing something or has this vanished? I can see Add FTP Account and Manage FTP User but neither of these options has Start. What is more, when I do add an account, it is not shown in Manage FTP User. I have removed the whole installation and started again from scratch, but no different.

Status show FTP inactive. How do I change this?

Where in the Ampps Application is the FTP Tab?

FTP Clearly does not seem to work as it looks like AMPPS has removed this functionality. Since no one from Softaculous ever seems to reply to these things, I suggest if you need FTP, you look elsewhere. On Mac OSX, I have found Quick FTP is available on the App store (free of charge). I hope this is a bit more reliable.
