The LetsEncypt project has finally come into public beta. Link: https://letsencrypt.org . It allows for free SSl certificates with (semi)automated tools to create, install and renew the certs. They are cross signed by IdenTrust, and are accepted as trusted by all the popular browsers already.
It is still beta, so some tools and features are still being improved/tweaked and added, but it's fully functional, and has about 4 ways to generate and install certs. I haven't messed with it yet, getting ready to soon. We can probably use one of their methods to get certs in our Webuzo sites. It would be great if Webuzo could integrate the LetsEncrypt api or code into the panel to make it nice n easy for those of us who would like to encrypt and don't want or can't afford the commercial certs available now. |
