So I am updating the scripts in WHM . My question is, can I close the browser while update is in progress?

Another thing, is there a way to run the update in the background instead in WHM?

Is the cron working for suphp and suexec cPanel?

No it uses Javascript.

This is related to my other topic. I tried to execute CRON and still there are scripts that are not updated. How do i set up CRON such that it will install and update all the scripts?

Go to WHM -> Softaculous -> Settings Tab
Click on Update Settings.
It should add the CRON Job if not there.

You can recheck it in /etc/cron.d
