I am not an experienced AMPSS/WordPress/MySQL user and I need help to understand the following behaviours (Windows 7):-
1) Every now and then I am not able to start MySQL. Is this likely to be because I have shutdown my laptop without shutting down AMPSS/Apache/MySQL first?
2) Having done some online research I have found a way to get MySQL started by deleting the files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ampps\mysql\data. These appear to be the log and error files and they get automatically recreated by MySQL next time it starts. Is this approach a good idea?
3) I have lost(?) the websites I created in Wordpress 3 times now. I get an "Error establishing a database connection" message in the browser. The wp config file looks OK, but it looks to me like the database may be empty because when I go into phpadmin and select the database for my website, it says at the top "No tables found in this database". I did not know about backups so haven't taken any! Is there anything else I can do? Have I really lost my work?
Big question:- Are these 3 things related?Has it all been caused by failing to shut down AMPSS/Apache/MySQL properly before shutting down my laptop.
Any advice to the newbie would be really appreciated.
