Hello,

It´s the first install / use of webuzu on an un-managed vps. Exim and Devecot are installed and now i´m a bit lost with the email settings.

There is the selection of PHP MAIL & SMTP with the fields

SMTP Server

SMTP Port

SMTP Username

SMTP Password .

Are these the initial settings and what do i need to select and to add in the fields?

I real hope you can help me  :xd:

Many Thanks!

mike

These settings define how webuzo sends notifications about updates and stuff.

Many thanks for the replies.

Vally the link is exactly the part where i do not know what data i have to add and if i have to add there as well data for PHP MAil and for SMPT or if i need to select one of them only..

Did the install of exim / devecot install the smtp server ? Will it be

smtp.MYdomain.com

then ?

Do i have to define SMTP Port, Username and Password then there ?

Or do i need to install an own mail server ?

Many Thanks  :xd:

mike

PHPmail should work out of the box without editing anything if I'm not mistaken.
That would be the easy solution, but phpmailer stuff is often classified as spam.

If you want to use SMTP you should first of all make sure you have a working MTA-setup (exim).
If it does work, than you can insert any Domain Name pointing to your webuzo server. Otherwise set the ip.
The port can be 25 I assume since mails will be send from exims own system.

I'd suggest u use a valid username and password which use setup via Webuzo GUI ("Add E-mail Account).

Yes. Exactly.

Let the settings be default. They have nothing to do with the Email Server.

It will use the default php mail() function to deliver the emails. Nothing to worry about :xd:
